WM Housing consolidates offices in Solihull with help from KWB

Back to news list

WM Housing Group’s consolidation of three office locations into one new head office in Solihull signifies a growing trend of companies rationalising their office space to realise greater economies of scale whilst increasing efficiency and reducing costs.

Birmingham Business Park in Solihull is one of the few places in the West Midlands that has the capacity to facilitate such office space consolidations. Set within 148 acres of mature parkland, Birmingham Business Park provides around 1.9 million sq ft of high quality office space adjacent to the NEC, Birmingham Airport, and Junction 4 of the M6 and Junction 6 of the M42, giving access to the wider national motorway network.

Birmingham Business Park has succeeded through its attraction to a wide variety of business sectors, which has meant demand has been more sustainable than other locations. For example, in the last 12 months, it has seen occupiers in the automotive, TMT (technology, media and telecoms), recruitment, engineering and consultancy sectors take up space on the Park, proving it to be a sound investment for Canmoor.

WM Housing Group has grown into one of the largest social housing businesses in the West Midlands, owning and managing around 30,000 homes. Their move into 27,134 sq ft of high quality office space within Birmingham Business Park’s 4040 Lakeside is the result of a consolidation exercise from three locations around the West Midlands, namely Rubery, Bromsgrove and Redditch. This consolidation process is a prime example of the trend that we have seen throughout last year, which has led to so many deals being struck in Solihull and the M42 corridor.

KWB Partner, Mark Robinson, said: “The outlook for Solihull and the out-of-town office market is extremely positive with healthy activity coming through into 2015 with some larger deals expected to close in the near future. Interest remains high and, though we can’t disclose any further details, there are more companies following suit on the consolidation trend.”
