The office space transaction comes on the back of first occupying 11,000 sq ft of Solihull office space in the adjacent Eagle 2 building at the beginning of 2010, which they effectively doubled in 2011 to take the whole of the second floor offices.

The latest acquisition of 65,000 sq ft of Solihull office space sees Eagle Court now acting as a regional headquarters – a consolidation point for the Midlands – with 340 call-centre, sales and administrative staff moving from offices in Brierley Hill and additional administrative staff moving from offices in Redditch and Small Heath.

Maurice Daw, Virgin Media’s executive director for access, said the intention was to centralise a number of offices in the West Midlands region to create a new centre of excellence for customer service and regional operations in the area. “The proposals are designed to help improve efficiency and collaboration, with teams also benefitting from a significantly enhanced working environment,” he added.

Speaking of the initial move to Eagle Court offices in Solihull, Paul Harris, executive director of property at Virgin Media, said: “By relocating to Eagle Court we have been able to access great quality office accommodation whilst providing the business with a cost effective solution to facilitate the further consolidation of our existing property portfolio. We were attracted by the flexibility and physical appearance of the office building, and the floorplates provided the business with the utilisation options it required.”

The prestigious headquarters Solihull office building, situated in a prominent position just off the A45 Coventry Road and adjacent to Birmingham Airport, is already home to vehicle leasing and contract hire company Lloyds TSB Autolease. Offering exceptional on-site office car parking and an accessible location, the high specification Solihull offices benefit from comfort cooling and an impressive full-height glazed atrium.

The recent commercial property letting further demonstrates how Eagle Court has outperformed the marketplace. Not only do the Solihull offices offer excellent, high quality office space at competitive rates, but the development has also established itself as an attractive location for companies looking to set up headquarter offices.

Mark Robinson, Partner at KWB and a specialist in out-of-town office lettings in the M42 area, said: “We are delighted to see Eagle Court offices in Solihull secure the largest office letting in the M42 corridor over the last 5 years. Not only is the letting indicative of a market that is becoming increasingly active, but it is also reassuring to see Solihull as a region continue to attract corporate occupiers like Virgin Media over and above other competing parts of the country.”

KWB office property specialists act on Eagle Court for client Aviva Investors as joint office agents along with DTZ and CBRE.
