‘24 carat’ deal signed as ‘Bond namesake’ offices in Shirley are sold

Currently based locally in Shelly House offices in Monkspath, Solihull, CIPP conducted an exhaustive search of the Solihull and Shirley area, before finding Goldfinger House. A unique opportunity within the established Cranmore business district in Shirley, close to J4 of the M42, Goldfinger House was the only suitable office building available freehold and the only Grade II listed offices with an infamous architectural legacy.

Goldfinger House was originally designed and built back in the mid ‘50s for Carr & Co by the influential, Hungrian-born architect Ernö Goldfinger, who was notorious for his uncompromising, modernist architecture and best known for his brutalist tower blocks built to combat Britain’s post-war housing crisis in London.

And the link with literary hero and superspy ‘James Bond’ is no coincidence. Author Ian Fleming used Goldfinger’s last name for the Fort Knox-robbing villain, Auric Goldfinger, after the two reportedly crossed swords over Ernö’s demolition of a period terrace in London to make way for his own house at Willow Road, Hampstead.

Whilst the building dates back to its historical roots, prior to marketing the offices in Shirley, Revelan Group undertook an extensive refurbishment of Goldfinger House to provide a high quality internal working environment.

In addition to great on-site car parking, the new offices in Shirley will allow CIPP to cater for medium and long term future expansion of their office space. They also provide excellent amenities on the doorstep with the David Lloyd Solihull Cranmore leisure facility next door and the De Vere Village Urban Resort close by offering hotel, conferencing, health and fitness club, and a range of restaurants, cafes and bars.

The recent opening of Parkgate, a new shopping and residential development in Shirley town centre, further enhances the area’s appeal to local businesses and staff alike to locate their offices in Shirley and Cranmore.

KWB’s partner Mark Robinson said: “It is particularly pleasing to see a strong, locally-based company performing well and expanding, but also having the confidence to look at buying their next office building to safeguard future expansion. This is further evidence of the Solihull office market continuing with the momentum started in part last year and progressing in earnest in 2014.”

PNF Chartered Surveyors acted for CIPP in the transaction.
