How do you manage Asbestos within the KWB Property Management Portfolio?

As KWB is the West Midlands leading independent firm of Office Property Specialists we appreciate that health and safety is an integral part of property management.

For this reason we commissioned our health and safety partners SM&MS to provide type 2 asbestos audits on all of our managed portfolio.

The asbestos project was started in November 2002, were following advice given by SM&MS we incorporated a schedule which allowed us to visit high risk properties first. Such high risk properties included properties known to have asbestos containing materials within them, properties built between 1950 and 1970 and also large properties with many people in occupation.

We now have only a handful of asbestos audits to complete prior to the legislation deadline of May 2004.

When selecting an asbestos company it is essential that the company works to MDHS 100, the samples are tested in UKAS accredited laboratories, and asbestos consultants have necessary qualifications (P402 minimum).
